COUNTY ADOPTS DISTRICT CLERK ARCHIVE PLAN

District Clerk Tammy Brauner says with the new district clerk’s archival fee and records preservation plan, the history of Washington County, with its numerous references to the very founding of the state of Texas is now safe and secure.

The Washington County Commissioners approved a $10 fee for any action filed in the district clerk’s office in order to preserve the county records, dating back to the early 1800s.  Brauner says the fee will not be noticed and collected for the next five year

The fee and the plan was adopted at today’s (Tuesday’s) meeting of the Washington County Commissioners.  Washington County Judge John Brieden  said the plan is catching up with the record keeping efforts of the county and noted a similar plan was adopted for the county clerk’s office earlier.

The district clerk’s office was enabled to collect this fee after the 2009 Texas legislative session.
