COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO CONSIDER TAX PHASE IN

Washington County Judge John Brieden says the merger and expansion of the Tempurpedic-Sealy Mattress operation in Brenham is a ‘big deal’.

When the Washington County Commissioners meet Tuesday they are expected to follow the lead of the Brenham City Council by granting a tax phase in agreement Tempur Sealy International.  The newly merged corporation is expanding their operation in Brenham while cutting back in some other areas.  Judge Brieden shows this make Washington County and Brenham a prime area for businesses to expand and locate.

The expansion will mean another 100 jobs coming to the county and city.

The Washington County Commissioners will also discuss a land lease for property so the Washington County Healthy Living Association can use it for a garden.  Judge Brieden says will allow the WCHLA to grow vegetables in order to stretch their food budget.  Federal budget cuts have recently hit the Senior Citizens Center meal program.

The Washington County Commissioners meet Tuesday morning at nine at the courthouse.
