COUNTY RESCINDS THEN REESTABLISHES CERTZ

The Washington County Commissioners rescinded then reinstated a County Energy Reinvestment Zone at today’s (Tuesday’s) meeting.  The Zone allows the county to get grants from the Texas Department of Transportation for road repairs for damage done due to heavy oil and gas drilling equipment.  Washington County Judge John Brieden said he knew he and the commissioners were being ‘overly cautious’ but he wanted to make sure there were no obstacles in the county getting this funding.

Washington County is one of many counties in the state that needs this type of road repair.  Judge Brieden noted at an earlier meeting that one tractor trailer with oil drilling equipment will do as much damage to a road as thousands of cars in a year.

The County is eligible to receive $283,000 in TxDot grants.
