CUB HALL OF HONOR TO INDUCT THREE NEW MEMBERS

The Brenham Cub Hall of Honor will recognize a pair of elite football players and the school’s most successful head coach at its annual luncheon today (Friday).

This year’s program will enshrine Eric Richardson, Wade Sisk, and Glen West into the Hall of Honor, for their accomplishments in Cub green.

Eric Richardson showcased the skills of a naturally talented athlete from an early age, excelling at football, basketball and baseball for the Cubs.

In 1989, as a sophomore, Richardson lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He was selected as an all-district defensive back honorable mention.  The following year, he led the Brenham Cubs football team with three interceptions, and was selected as first team all-district defensive back.  He would be named honorable mention all-district quarterback in his senior year.

Richardson now resides in Round Rock, where he runs a baseball academy. Eric and his wife, Vanorda, have been married for 23 years.

Wade Sisk, a 2003 graduate of Brenham High School, was one of Brenham’s biggest offensive lineman and an integral part in helping the Cubs reach the 5A Texas state championship game his senior year.

As a team captain, Sisk was a unanimous all-district selection as a junior and senior, as well as a first-team All-Brazos Valley choice. He earned all-state mentions as both a junior and senior, allowing just one sack over his junior and senior seasons.  He also served as a student mentor, and was an officer of the Future Community Career Leaders of America (FCCLA).

Wade and his wife, Natalie, own and coach at a local CrossFit gym in Fort Worth, CrossFit Anthology.

Glen West was named Brenham High School athletic director and head football coach in 1998, a position he held for 20 years.

During his tenure, the Cubs totaled a record of 185-61, and reached the playoffs 18 of his 20 seasons at the helm, including the last 14 in a row. The Cubs were district champions 11 years and competed in the regional final five times, winning four of them.

West’s Brenham teams played for the state title in 2002, 2009 and 2013, the only Cub football teams to do so. In 26 years of coaching, West and his staff put together an overall record of 226-84 with 21 trips to the playoffs.

Glen and his wife, Julie, have two daughters, Gracie and Gretchen, both of whom are TCU graduates. Julie was a long time teacher in the Brenham school district and is now teaching in the New Braunfels ISD.

The luncheon celebrating this year’s honorees will be held at the Blinn College Student Center Banquet Room, starting at 11:30 a.m. Former honorees and guests are invited to gather in the student center starting at 11 a.m.  Honorees will also be recognized leading up to kickoff of the Cubs that night versus Marble Falls at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for the luncheon are $25, and can be purchased from any committee member.  Members of the committee are Delbert Boeker, Eddie Van Dyke, Melvin Ehlert Jr., Michael Groves, Val Kiecke, Charlie Matejowsky, Jim Moser, Jerry Newman, Tommie Sullivan, Randy Weidemann.

Tickets can also be purchased at Brenham National Bank, Bank of Brenham, or the Brenham ISD Administration and Athletic Offices. Tickets and tables are limited.
