CUBETTES FALL AT MAGNOLIA–ENDS POST-SEASON HOPES
The Brenham Cubettes’ hopes of a playoff berth came to an end, Tuesday night with a 12-5 loss at Magnolia.
The Cubettes (18-10/6-7) were officially eliminated from playoff contention with the loss.
The Cubettes and Lady Bulldogs (20-4/10-3) entered the bottom of the third inning, tied at 1-1, when the roof fell in for Brenham, as Magnolia put nine runs on the board.
Magnolia hit two home runs and took advantage of three Cubettes’ errors to take control of the game.
Brenham had tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the inning on a double by Kramer Eschete and a single from Caroline Schroeder.
After the Cubettes rallied for three runs in the fifth inning on hits from McGee Eschete, Kat Marshall and Jenna Hardy, the Bulldogs countered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Cubettes will close out the season Thursday night when they host Waller at 6:30 at Alumni Field. It will be the final home game for the seven seniors on the team. The game can be hear on KWHI, beginning at 6:10.
