CUBS ROLL PAST BASTROP, 47-3

 

The Brenham Cubs put together their most complete game of the 2020 season, as they rolled past Bastrop, 47-3 at Cubs Stadium, Friday night.

Brenham (3-2/3-0) got off and running, taking a 6-0 lead after just 44 seconds.  Quarterback Stephen Stackhouse scored on a 22-yard run to cap a three-play opening drive.

After the Bears (1-4/0-3) cut the lead to 6-3, the Cubs reeled off 41 unanswered points.  Stackhouse fire touchdown passed to Amir Johnson, Adan Villatoro, Alandrick Andrade and Kaden Watts.

Stackhouse added a second rushing touchdown and Trenton Gilbert capped the night with a 4-yard TD run.

Stackhouse finished the night with 168 yard and four touchdowns passing and 80 yards rushing and two scores.

J’Sin Lopez led the ground game, rushing for 87 yards, while Gilbert added 72 yards in the fourth quarter.

Defensively, the Cubs shut the Bears’ offense down, holding Bastrop to 188 total yards offense.

Next up for the Cubs, they will travel to Pflugerville to face Connally, Friday night at 7:00 on AM 1280 KWHI, FM 101.7 and www.kwhi.com.  The pre-game show kicks off at 6:30.
