CUBS TAKE CARE OF BULLDOGS AT HOME

The Brenham Cubs jumped out to an early lead and rolled to a 61-51 win over 18/4A foe, Magnolia Wednesday night at Cubs Gym.

The Cubs’ big men keyed the victory, scoring 51 of the team’s 61 points.

Ja’Corey Colvin scored eight of his team-high 17 points in the first quarter, helping pace the Cubs (18-8/8-4) to a 19-9 lead after the first eight minutes.

Courtland Sutton scored eight points in the second quarter helping extend the Cubs’ lead to 39-23 at the half.

Magnolia (12-11/7-6) cut into the Cubs’ lead at times in the second half, but never got closer than eight points.

Sutton would finish with 14 points, while Chase Brooks and Caleb Hill each added ten.

Magnolia’s Josh Bearden led all scorers with 24 points.

The Cubs will travel to Huntsville, Friday for a 7:30 match up with the Hornets.

Huntsville (7-5, district) fell to Waller (8-5), Wednesday, 50-48 in overtime.
