DAIRY DAY SATURDAY IN WASHINGTON COUNTY

  

In recent decades fewer and fewer dairies have been producing milk and cheese and butter in Washington County, and really across the  state of Texas.

The Texas A&M Agri-Life Extension Service in Washington County has spent the last several years making sure more young people are involved in dairy farming with their annual Dairy Day.

This year’s Dairy Day is Saturday at the Washington County Fairgrounds.  Young people from the surrounding area will be showing off their dairy cattle for prizes and gratification.

The check in time is from 8am to 9am and is open to all Texas 4-H and FFA members.  Dairy day features various dairy cattle shows including Brown Swiss, Holstein and more.

Participants will also have a chicken barbecue plate with all the trimmings for $7.
