DEMOCRAT CECIL WEBSTER, SR. OF CARMINE ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR TEXAS HOUSE

In preparation for running for elected office, Democrat Cecil Webster of Carmine in Fayette County, has filed paperwork with the Texas Secretary of State’s office for the Texas State Legislature.

He is seeking the Texas House of Representatives House District 13 seat currently held by Republican Lois Kolkhorst

In a special election to be held on December 6th, Kolkhorst is seeking to fill the unexpired term of State Senator Glenn Hegar), who was elected State Comptroller on November 4th.

If Kolkhorst is elected to the state senate, her house seat will then be filled through another special election, which could come as early as January 2015.  That is the seat Webster is seeking.

Even if Kolkhorst is not successful in her bid for the SD 18 seat, Webster intends to continue his campaign for the HD 13 seat, which would be up for election in November 2016.  House District 13 encompasses Austin, Burleson, Colorado, Fayette, Grimes, Lavaca, and Washington counties.

Webster has been active in Fayette County politics for years, having served as chair of the Fayette County Democratic Party, a regional trainer for the Texas Democratic Party, a delegate to numerous Texas Democratic Party conventions, and a delegate to the 2012 national Democratic convention.  More recently, Webster ran unsuccessfully for Fayette County judge in the November 4, 2014 election.
