Brenham Main Street Director Jennifer Eckermann told today’s (Thursday’s) meeting of the City Council that a downtown businesswoman had requested a parking space in the 100 block of West Alamo, to be used as a loading dock.

Eckermann told the Council this request from Bebe Haywood,  simply was not feasible.

City Engineer Grant Lischka wrote a memo to the Main Street Board recommending the space not be used for a loading dock.

There was one item the Brenham City Council did not take up at today’s (Thursday’s) meeting. City Attorney Carey Bovey said the Council need to pass over a resolution of the Texas Department of Transportation Turn Back program.  This would have the city takeover maintenance of the right of way to FM 389 from U.S. 290 west to FM 332.  Bovey said there was additional language that needed to be included in the resolution that dealt with other areas the city would be taking over  under the turn back program..
