A longtime local practitioner and Washington County’s medical director is the recipient of a statewide lifetime achievement award.

At today’s (Tuesday) Washington County Commissioners meeting, Dr. Robert Stark was presented the 2021 President’s Award by the Texas Ambulance Association (TAA).  Each year, the organization nominates an individual for the award, recognizing the body of work he or she has done for their community.

Dr. Stark said he is grateful for the honor, and that he always viewed this occupation as a way to help others.

Dr. Stark has been a Texas Medical Board-licensed practitioner since 1983, and has had a private practice in Brenham on North Park Street since 1985.  He was appointed by former County Judge Gus Mutscher to serve as medical director along with Gary Appelt and Tom Berry.  In 2018, he was appointed to serve as medical director of the Washington County Jail, where he worked until 2020.
