DRIVER IDENTIFIED IN WASHINGTON CO. CRASH ON FM 50

  

The driver killed in a three-vehicle crash on FM 50 in Washington County Wednesday has been identified.

22-year-old Patrice Pleasant of Somerville was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred south of Yegua Creek, roughly four miles north of Independence.

DPS Sergeant Jimmy Morgan reported that, shortly after 2 p.m., Pleasant was headed south in a 2009 Chevrolet Impala, when it crossed over the center stripe and side swiped a 2016 Ford box truck.  The Chevy then hit a tanker trailer, being pulled by a northbound 2014 Western Star truck tractor.

The driver of the truck was taken by ambulance to CHI St. Joseph in Bryan with non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the truck tractor was uninjured.

FM 50 has since been re-opened, after remaining closed for several hours.  Authorities continue their investigation.
