Two Brenham men are facing charges after their arrests early Sunday morning.

Around 1:00 a.m. Sunday, Officer Kevin Mertz conducted a traffic stop after observing the driver driving recklessly and almost driving into a ditch at the 2000 block of W. Main.

Mertz says the driver, 33-year old Victor Oswaldo Hernandez, had a strong smell of alcohol on his breath and his speech was slurred. There were also two open cans of beer in the car.

Mertz says passenger, 31-year old Freddie Gutierrez Corona also appeared to be intoxicated due to the smell of alcohol on his breath and his slurred speech.

Both men were arrested and transported to the Washington County jail.

Hernandez is charged with Driving While Intoxicated, while Guitierrez-Cornoa is charged with Public Intoxication.
