EARLY VOTING IN PRIMARY ELECTIONS BEGINS TUESDAY

Early voting begins today (Tuesday) for the Republican and Democratic primary elections.

Early voting will take place in the Washington County Courthouse Annex at 100 South Park Street, right across from the courthouse.

Hours for early voting are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., today through Friday.  There will be weekend voting this weekend only, on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m.

There are two primary elections, and voters must choose which primary they want to vote in.

Both of Washington County’s contested races in the primary are on the Republican ballot: for county commissioner of Precinct One, incumbent Don Koester faces challenger Rick Seeker, while Daphne Kohring faces Cheryl Gaskamp for the position of tax assessor-collector.

Another race with local ties is for the district judge for the 335th Judicial District, pitting incumbent Reva Towslee-Corbett against challenger Charles Carver.

Sample ballots are available on the county’s website, www.co.washington.tx.us, under Election Information.

Early voting continues through next Friday, February 28th, with the primary election set for March 3rd.
