EARLY VOTING PASSES 7,000 IN WASHINGTON COUNTY

With Election Day less than one week away, early voting in Washington County has topped 7,000 ballots.

County Clerk Beth Rothermel says voters cast 542 ballots in-person on Tuesday, bringing the total to 7,044 early votes in the county.

Compared to past early voting numbers, this year’s election has drawn in more than each of the past three governor’s elections in 2006, 2010, and 2014, by a healthy margin.  Total early voting for 2006 tallied 3,439 ballots, 2010 brought in 5,533, and 2014 drew 5,098.

This year’s numbers trail 2008’s presidential early voting numbers by just over 1,700 votes, with three days of early voting left.  2008’s total early voting numbers reached 8,749, 2012 hit 9,285 ballots, and 2016 tallied 9,760.

Early voting continues today (Wednesday) through Friday at the Courthouse Annex, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  There is reserved parking in front of the Annex, and in front of the Courthouse on Main Street in Brenham.
