EMPTY BOWLS HOSTING SECOND ANNUAL FUNDRAISER IN BRENHAM OCTOBER 19TH

Organizers are preparing a fundraiser in Brenham to fight hunger across the Brazos Valley.

The Second Annual Empty Bowls Brenham event is set for next Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fireman’s Park.

Local artisans and Brenham High School students will donate handmade and hand-painted clay bowls, while local restaurants and community members provide soup, bread, and desserts. The public is invited to donate and select a bowl—$20 for adults and $15 for children—and enjoy a variety of homemade soups.

Donors can then keep the bowls as a souvenir, and a reminder of the ongoing fight to end hunger.

Liz Bumpus, coordinator of Brenham’s Empty Bowls event, said even though the group is relatively new to the community, it has discovered a lot about food insecurity in the Brazos Valley.

In addition to the meals, there will also be live music and a silent auction.

Bumpus said she is thrilled with the support the movement to fight hunger has received locally.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Brazos Valley Food Bank.
