The Museum’s famous Texas Chief Train will leave the depot in Galveston at 9 a.m. and make a roundtrip, stopping midpoint at Brenham. The train consists of ten passenger cars and three engines, operating in the push-pull mode to Brenham.

It will have a special car filled with Gulf Coast First Responders. Members of the community are encouraged to come out and wave a flag in support of the First Responders as the train passes through Alvin, Rosenberg, Sealy and Bellville. The train is scheduled to pass through Alvin at 10 a.m. and will continue through Rosenberg at 11 a.m.

The Texas Chief will pull into the Santa Fe freight train station in Brenham at 12:30 p.m. and will depart back to Galveston at 12:45. Among festivities for train passengers, they will enjoy Blue Bell Ice Cream and a performance from the Blinn College Band upon arrival in Brenham.

  1. This was really neat, I loved seeing the old train cars. It would have been great if this had been promoted here, I would have loved to have purchased tickets and ridden this train into Brenham. I have always want to ride the rails from here just to see what it is like.

  2. Love the First Responders. Some organizer in Brenham should have had the forethought to divert traffic on Alamo back at Jackson. The scheduled train arrival was not met, nor was the advertised 15-minute departure! Very frustrating for the folks waiting on Alamo!

  3. Do you do this often, the grandkids would love it and I know hubby would how much are the tickets
