DESCRIPTION:A new exhibit focused on the history of Juneteenth in Washington County opens on Saturday at the Brenham Heritage Museum’s Bus Depot Gallery.  Celebrate! A View of Juneteenth Traditions and Customs shows the wide variety of ways that Juneteenth has been observed in Washington County since the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in Texas in June 1865.  Specific topics include parades\, coronations\, rodeos\, concerts and entertainment\, picnics\, sporting events and reunions.  The exhibit will run through at least the end of July.\n\nTo learn more\, or to donate to the museum\, visit www.brenhamheritagemuseum.org.

DESCRIPTION:St. Peter’s Episcopal Church welcomes Jim McLeland to play a violin concert with our own Joanne Clark on piano and organ- the concert will be held on Thursday\, June 9\, at 6:00 p.m.  \nJim holds degrees from Peabody\, and Miami University of Ohio and University of Houston. Jim was recently heard here playing violin with the Brenham Chorale in their Schubert concert.  He returns to play compositions by Vivaldi\, Bloch and Handel.  \nJoanne holds degrees from St Olaf College and The University of Michigan Ann Arbor. She will play Bach and Fanny Mendelssohn as solo organ numbers.  I know you will enjoy this summer concert so plan to come and bring your friends for a night out.  A free will offering will be taken at the door and a reception follows downstairs. \nFor further information please call 979-836-7248
