F-111 TO ARRIVE IN BRENHAM FRIDAY

Washington County’s F-111 fighter plane is scheduled to arrive Friday.

According to Ben Seeker of the local VFW, the Viet Nam-era fighter will be arriving from Nevada sometime Friday and will be stored at the Brenham Airport.

Last week, the Washington County Veterans Association received word they had succeeded in obtaining the last F-111A aircraft in the Air Force inventory.  Representatives from the Veterans Association and the City of Brenham signed documents securing the aircraft.

It will go on permanent display in Henderson Park in Brenham.  The Vietnam era fighter/bomber will be on permanent loan from the U.S. Air Force Museum in Dayton Ohio.

Several local companies as well as individuals have donated funds toward the restoration.  Those wishing to participate are asked to contact Don Holley at 830-3980, Joe Barham at 337-4640 or any member of the Washington County Veterans Association.
