A Central Texas sheriff is free on bond after his arrest on multiple charges, Monday.
The Texas Rangers arrested Falls County Sheriff Ricky Scaman on warrants for sexual assault, felony assault on a public servant and official oppression.
Scaman was released from the Bell County Jail after posting bond, set at $195,000.
According to KBTX-TV, online records list two counts of assault on a public servant, two counts of misdemeanor official oppression and one count of sexual assault.
Scaman was indicted by a Falls County grand jury Monday morning and was immediately arrested by the Texas Rangers.
Just months after he’d won the 2016 race for Sheriff, Scaman was accused of sexual assault and harassment by multiple women who worked for him including his former assistant chief deputy, and a dispatcher/jailer.
Scaman faces a challenge in the November election from Democrat Joe Lopez.
