FATALITY CRASH REPORTED ON FM 50 IN WASHINGTON COUNTY

  

Authorities are currently investigating a fatality crash on FM 50 in Washington County.

DPS Sergeant Jimmy Morgan reports a three-vehicle accident on FM 50, south of Yegua Creek, about four miles north of Independence.

Shortly after 2 p.m., a 2009 Chevrolet Impala crossed over into the northbound lane and struck a 2016 Ford box truck.  The Impala spun off the box truck and went into the path of an 18-wheeler carrying crude oil, hitting the back axle of the trailer.

The driver of the passenger car was pronounced deceased.  The driver of the truck was taken to CHI St. Joseph in Bryan with non-life threatening injuries, while the driver of the 18-wheeler had no injuries.

FM 50 is closed down, as authorities investigate.  Drivers will need to find an alternate route.
