FAYETTE CO. ACCIDENT SHUTS DOWN PORTION OF I-10

  

One person was injured and a portion of I-10 was shut down for over eight hours after a Tuesday afternoon accident between two tractor trailers in Fayette County.

According to Sheriff Keith Korenek, two 18-wheelers collided at a construction zone, just after 12:30 p.m.

According to Korenek one truck had hit the rear of the other truck.  Numerous agencies were needed to clear the accident scene, due to the fact that one of the trucks was loaded with a sand like material that had to be removed.  That portion of I-10 was closed for approximately 8 hrs.

Agencies involved at the scene were the DPS, The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County EMS, Flatonia Volunteer Fire Dept., Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Dept., and Texas Dept of Transportation.

The driver of one of the trucks was trapped truck and after extrication, was transported by Air Evac to an Austin hospital.
