FAYETTE CO. AUTHORITIES SEIZE $7 MILLION WORTH OF HEROIN

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of K-9 officer Lobos, discovered nearly $7 million worth of heroin during a traffic stop Thursday.

Just after 12 p.m., Sgt. Randy Thumann and his K-9 partner Lobos stopped a Ford F-150 on Interstate 10 for a traffic violation. Thumann says he observed multiple indications the occupant was involved in drug trafficking.

When consent was given to search the vehicle, Thumann located 35 kilos of black tar Heroin with an estimated street value of $6.9 million. The drugs were hidden inside five wooden blocks, which were located inside a toolbox in the bed of the truck.

The driver, whose name is being withheld due to an ongoing investigation, was arrested for felony drug possession.
