Deputy Terry Guentert received a Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo First Responder trophy and jacket.

Guentert was nominated by Sheriff Keith Korenek for his efforts in an incident occurring in November of 2017, involving the theft of a vehicle from San Antonio.

A young child was inside the vehicle when it was stolen, and the suspect fled the city until being located near Flatonia by Guentert.  The suspect pretended to be the child’s father, but Guentert determined the man was not related to the child.

Guentert contacted medical first responders to care for the child as the suspect was taken to jail for the stolen vehicle and aggravated kidnapping.  As the child’s family arrived at the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, he was able to reunite the child with his mother.

In addition to receiving the trophy and jacket, first responders are also recognized at the rodeo performance on First Responder’s Day by riding in the Grand Entry.
