FAYETTE CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE DEPUTIES WIN NATIONAL AWARDS

  

Two Fayette County Deputies have received national recognition for their work.

Sgt. Randy Thumann, the handler of famed K-9 Officer Lobos, was recognized for seizing the largest amount of methamphetamine in the nation last year.

Sgt. Thumann and Lobos made the bust in August 2016, finding more than $5.9 million worth of meth hidden in a fuel tank.

Deputy David Smith was recognized for seizing the most occupied stolen vehicles in the country in 2016. Deputy Smith recovered 9 occupied stolen vehicles during the year.

The awards were presented during the National Criminal Interdiction Conference, held in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
