FAYETTE CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE RECOVERS STOLEN VEHICLE

  

Fayette County authorities have recovered a stolen vehicle from College Station.

Friday afternoon, around 1 p.m., the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a tracking device location from a laptop.  The laptop was believed to be stored inside a vehicle that was reported stolen.

Officers traveled to the location in the West Point community, and were able to find the vehicle at a private property.  Deputies found a male suspect in the vehicle, identified as 29-year-old Christopher Paul Butts of Somerville.  He was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, and taken into custody without incident.

The vehicle was transported back to the Sheriff’s Office, where it was inventoried.  After further investigation, deputies found the laptop within the residence where the stolen vehicle was originally located.

College Station authorities were notified of the vehicle being recovered in good condition.  Officials are in the process of returning the vehicle and all items to the rightful owner.
