FAYETTE CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE SEIZES 100 POUNDS OF SYNTHETIC MARIJUANA

Fayette County authorities made another drug bust Monday, seizing 100 pounds of synthetic marijuana.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, just after 8:30 a.m. Investigator David Smith stopped an Audi SUV on Interstate 10 near mile marker 663 for a traffic violation.

After making contact with the driver and passenger, investigator Smith saw that the entire passenger compartment of the SUV was full of trash bags. When Smith questioned the driver about the bags, he became extremely nervous.

Sgt. Randy Thumann arrived on scene to assist Smith with the stop.  The driver eventually admitted he was transporting around 100 pounds of synthetic marihuana. The driver was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and released to the Fayette County Jail.

The driver’s name and information is being withheld due to the ongoing investigation.
