FAYETTE COUNTY ARREST TWO INVOLVED IN BURGLARY

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports the arrest of two men on Friday that was involved in a Burglary on Luther Hill Road.  Sheriff Korenek informs that the Fayette County Narcotics Unit along with other Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a local residence in LaGrange and recovered a trailer load of stolen property.

Sheriff’s Deputies were following up on a report of suspicious activity and confronted two suspects as they were unloading a number of items from a pickup into a garage at the residence.  These suspects gave conflicting stories in regard to the origin of the property which included two firearms. Interesting enough both of these subjects were convicted felons and were prohibited from possessing any firearms.  Once the property renter was contacted, she claimed no knowledge of the items especially the firearms. The male subjects were taken into custody and after further investigation, it was discovered the suspects had just burglarized a residence on Luther Hill Road near FM 2981. The absentee owners were contacted and later arrived at the Sheriff’s Office and identified the items as being taken from their property.

The suspects, 50 year old Arnold Randolph Clopton of Kyle, and 45 year old Tommy Clarence King III of West Point, were arrested and charged with Burglary of Habitation and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.  The suspects are being held in the Fayette County Jail under $150,000 bond each.

The suspect’s vehicle was seized and the Sheriff’s Office will pursue forfeiture proceedings.

The Narcotics Unit was assisted by Chief Deputy Randy Noviskie, Lt. David Beyer, Sgt. Ron Naumann and Deputies Castleberry, Durrenberger, Zimmermann and LaGrange Police Officer Brian Adams.
