FAYETTE COUNTY NARCOTICS K-9 SEIZE 11 KILOS OF COCAINE

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Wednesday at approximately 10:12 a.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Canine Officer Randy Thumann and his partner Lobos stopped a blue Dodge truck on interstate 10 at the 658 mile-marker for a traffic violation.

After contact with the driver was made, consent to search the vehicle was obtained. Deputy Thumann deployed his canine “Lobos” who alerted to the rear door of the vehicle.

Deputy Thumann removed the rear seat and carpet and observed an aftermarket compartment built in the floor. Once the compartment was accessed approximately 11 kilos of cocaine with an approximate weight of 30 lbs. was located.

The illegal narcotics has an approximate street value of 1.3 million dollars.

The driver, forty-seven year old Lucas Paz Torres, from Mexico was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Torres was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he was released to jail staff.

    1. Nice job! Drugs kill and destroy families! And they want to legalize drugs! How awful! Not only drunk drivers but high drivers would kill many people! Just say no to drugs because it does destroy people!

      1. They are trying to legalize marijuana. Can you be more specific because “drugs” would imply plural… And it’s just one. And until you have to live with a condition that “a drug” (singular) might help, then you might be supportive of it. I’m sure you support a cure for cancer but what about support a cure for PTSD? Addiction destroys families. Please share a link where someone high on the ONE DRUG they are trying to legalize actually resulted in a vehicular manslaughter…..

          1. All I have to say about this is that as long as marijuana is illegal, it is hypocritical to not support the prohibition of alcohol and tobacco. Alcohol is a factor in 40% of fatal auto accidents, according to the article you linked to. Marijuana was not proven to be a factor in fatal accidents in the article, only that drivers “tested positive”, which means they had smoked it at any time within 30 days of testing. Alcohol and tobacco have been killing people for decades upon decades, but I never hear the outcry about their legality.

If marijuana is dangerous and illegal, alcohol and tobacco should be illegal as well. As far as marijuana being a so-called “gateway drug”, that is up to the individual, who more than likely has addictive tendancies and will turn to hard drugs regardless of how they begin that journey.

        1. This is not about PTSD or relief from illness! It’s called recreational marajuana! People want this to have fun! But that leads to bigger drugs that destroy families! Trust me I’ve seen it happen way to much! Then they get depended on it. What started out as so called little drug leads to destruction! Do you really think this would help society? No Way!
