FAYETTE COUNTY OFFICIALS CONFISCATE AROUND 2,500 MARIJUANA PLANTS

Fayette County agents seized approximately 2,500 marijuana plants Thursday afternoon.

According to Sheriff Keith Korenek, several narcotics units and officials conducted a search along Barton Creek around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, to reports of a marijuana grow.

Searching off of State Highway 71 near Kirtley—a small community between Bastrop and LaGrange—officials discovered around 2,500 marijuana plants in a field.  Sheriff’s deputies, the narcotics unit, DEA and DPS agents, Homeland Security agents, and Domestic Cannabis Eradication/Suppression Program officials confiscated the plants.

Despite extensive air and ground search, authorities have not located any potential suspects in the area.

  1. Great to hear! In Washington County, there hasnt been an announcement of a grow find in quite some time. Guessing they’ve moved to Corps land around the lake as privately owned land is being checked more. Whatever it takes to totally get rid of this problem. The damage they do to the ecosystem with the littering, the chemicals, and the killing of animals is horrible. Ill take an educated guess based on past cases and by the lack of care of damage to Texas and US lands that the growers are not citizens…..another reason to close our borders!
