FAYETTE COUNTY SHERIFF DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR FEBRUARY

  

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of February 2015. Deputy Rick Bohlmann responded to a suspicious vehicle in the ditch of a county road near Flatonia. Upon contact with the occupant of the vehicle drugs and alcohol were located in the vehicle. The subject was arrested. Bohlmann also responded to the Swiss Alp area for dogs running at large and chasing livestock. The dogs were seized, a hearing was held, and the animals were awarded to the Fayette County Animal Shelter.

Deputy Ben Wilson responded to property off of Andreas Road in reference to a vehicle being damaged. Currently the case is still under investigation. Wilson also took a report of a missing person from the Ellinger area. A report was taken and the missing person was later located deceased in a vehicle within the City Limits of Schulenburg. Currently the cause of death is being investigated by the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office. Deputy Marc Bennett responded to Owl Creek Road for criminal mischief. There, mailboxes were damaged, barricades were moved, port-a-potties turned over and theft of signs had occurred. Bennett also responded to property off of Truesdale Road for illegal dumping. A white SUV occupied by two black males was observed in the area and has yet to been identified. Sergeant Ron Naumann investigated an incident involving a subject possessing an altered driver’s license and using such at the Fayetteville Bank. Naumann was able to locate the male in possession of the altered license and he was arrested for tampering with a government record.

Investigator Angela Lala investigated a CPS case involving children located in a residence where narcotics were located. Lala also took a report from a parent in reference to her juvenile daughter speaking with an unknown male subject in another state. Deputy Perry Kram stopped a vehicle on FM 609 and US Hwy 90 for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle possessed and invalid license and was arrested for driving while license invalid. Investigator Robert Dryden took a report of a fraud case where an individual filed taxes and were notified that another person had filed using their information. The case was turned over to the IRS Fraud Department. Dryden also located a stolen trailer being pulled near the La Grange area. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was arrested for possession of stolen property.

Sergeant Charles Jobb responded to the area of State Highway 159 in reference to illegal parking by tractor trucks. Prior to arrival the trucks had left the area. Jobb also responded to a residence where there was a civil issue over an appliance in a rent house. Both parities were counseled. Deputy Josh Berger stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Travis and Jefferson for a traffic violation. Further investigation led to the arrest of the driver for possession of marijuana. Berger also responded to Reiss Road in reference to a possibly stolen vehicle. While on scene a male subject was found in possession of a firearm and he was a convicted felon. The male was arrested and charged with felon in possession of a firearm. Deputy David Smith took a report of a juvenile runaway from a residence in Willow Springs area. The female was located and found to be in possession of marijuana. She was detained and transported to the Victoria Juvenile Detention Center.

Deputy Garrett Durrenberger took a report regarding a female which attempted to cash a fake check at a local business. Durrenberger also made an arrest of a local subject in the La Grange area for local warrants. Deputy Daitwan Walker responded to an address off of Rosanky Road in reference to a female attempting suicide. She was transported to Smithville Hospital for treatment. Walker also responded to an individual on State Highway 71 near the river bridge requesting EMS. Medics were sent and he was transported to St. Mark’s Medical Center.

Deputy Matt Lacobie responded to a disturbance at a residence off of Three Mile Road. One person on location was arrested and charged with assault family violence. Lacobie also responded to a burglary of a habitation off of FM 3233. Taken from the residence were numerous electronics. Deputy Joe Martin investigated two burglaries which occurred on Davis Road which are believed to have been committed by the same suspects. Martin also investigated the theft of diesel fuel taken from equipment at a clay pit on Brown Road.

Deputy Michael Otten stopped a vehicle for traveling at a speed of 102 mph in a 75 mph zone. The driver of the vehicle was intoxicated and arrested for DWI. Otten also responded to a vehicle stopped in the roadway of State Highway 71 near the Busy Bee. Otten made the location and observed a female passed out behind the wheel of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was intoxicated and arrested for DWI. Deputy Mark Zimmerman met with a resident of the county at the Sheriff’s Office in reference to identity theft. Zimmerman also served as Bailiff for a civil trial for approximately two weeks of the month.

Deputy Ken Kretz investigated a vehicle fire on I-H 10 near Schulenburg. It was determined that the fire started near the fuel pump of the vehicle. Kretz also stopped a vehicle near Flatonia. The investigation of the stop led to one male being arrested for possession of marijuana. Deputy Devan Taylor assisted with a traffic accident where the driver of the vehicle involved was found to be suicidal. The driver was transported to Austin Oaks Mental Hospital.

Jail Administrator Ed Sawyer reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 60 individuals for the month of February and transported 10 individuals to the Texas Department of Corrections Facilities to begin serving time for crimes committed in Fayette County.

Fayette County Deputies traveled 50,107 miles, answering 456 calls for service, and filing 97 incident/offense reports.  Deputies served 37 civil papers, and made 16 felony and 26 misdemeanor arrests. Justice of Peace Courts collected $44,905.34 as a result of deputy activities.
