FIRE DESTROYS HOME WEST OF BRENHAM

Several area fire departments were called out Saturday night to a large house fire west of Brenham.

Shortly after 6:30 p.m., units from the Brenham Fire Department were sent out to 4816 Highway 290 West, to reports of a structure fire.

Units arrived to find the house fully engulfed.  Brenham firefighters assisted the Burton, Berlin and Gay Hill Fire Departments in extinguishing the blaze.

There were no injuries, but the house was deemed a total loss.  The cause of the fire has not been released.

Also on Saturday, the Brenham Fire Department assisted with a grass fire on Pleasant Hill School Road.  Brenham units received reports before 2:30 p.m., and found around two acres burning when they arrived.   They used a booster truck to extinguish the fire, along with the Salem and Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Departments.
