FIREARM TURNS BURGLARY INTO FIRST DEGREE FELONY
A 25-year old convict turned a home burglary into a first degree felony when he was found in possession of a firearm in March of 2012. District Attorney Julie Renken says that’s why 25-year old Kenneth Dillon Biski was sentenced to 18 years in prison for a burglary.
Renken said he broke into a home with the intention of stealing the firearm. District Court Judge Carson Campbell also ordered Bilski to make $155 in restitution.
Bilski was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a forgery charge against an elderly man he had befriended in March of 2012. Judge Campbell also ordered him to pay $860 in restitution, and pay a $75 hot check fee.
Renken said that 39-year old convicted sex offender Dortania Remarque Jones of Navasota had his probation revoked for a February 2010 conviction for indecency with a child by sexual conduct. Renken said Jones did not commit any new offenses but simply failed to registered as a sex offender.
Fifty-four year old convicted sex offender Michael Len Walker has his probation for a January 2013 sex offense revoked because he was not living where he said he was while registering as a sex offender. District Attorney Julie Renken says Walker was living within the city limits of Brenham when law enforcement officers conducted a sweep of sex offenders. Sheriff’s deputies came to the house he said he was living but that turned out to be an abandoned home. Judge Carson Campbell sentenced Walker to five years probation, ordered him to perform 150 hours of community service and ordered to perform all the duties of a convicted sex offenders.
Renken says 19-year old Derrick Green of Houston turned a class B misdemeanor into a third degree felony by trying to dispose of a small amount of marijuana during an arrest in March of last year. Judge Campbell sentenced Walker to two years deferred adjudication, ordered him to pay a $500 fine and perform 120 hours of community service.
