A late-Saturday-night fire on FM 50 in Washington County required the assistance of multiple volunteer fire departments.

At around 9:15 p.m., the Prairie Hill Volunteer Fire Department was called out to a structure fire on FM 50, near the county line.  Firefighters found a manufactured home fully involved upon their arrival.

Mutual aid was immediately requested from the Meyersville, Gay Hill, and Washington volunteer departments, along with Washington County CERT.  FM 50 was closed to set up a water shuttle.

The building was a total loss, but firefighters were able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to residences on either side.  Units were at the scene until 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

According to Prairie Hill Volunteer Deputy Chief Doug Zwiener, the home was a prefab building being used as a residence.  The cause of the fire was believed to be electrical.
