Following executive session Thursday, the Brenham City Council moved unanimously to extend Fisher’s employment agreement with the city for one year, beginning January 11, 2020.  The extension provided for a 2 percent cost of living increase, also effective January 11th.

According to City Secretary Jeana Bellinger, Fisher's current annual salary is $159,279.  The 2 percent cost of living adjustment will put his annual salary at $162,464.

Fisher replaced Terry Roberts as city manager in January of 2018.  Roberts retired after spending 17 years at the position.  Before taking the position in Brenham, Fisher served as City Manager in Forney, Texas.

Also after executive session Thursday, the council voted unanimously to remain in a class action suit regarding prescription opioid litigation.

In the suit, filed in federal district court in the northern district of Ohio, plaintiffs allege that the manufacturers and distributors of prescription opioids both contributed to the current opioid epidemic.

The suit alleges that manufacturers “grossly misrepresented the risks of long-term use of those drugs for persons with chronic pain”, and distributors “failed to properly monitor suspicious orders of those prescription drugs”.
