FIVE BUC VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS SIGN WITH 4-YEAR SCHOOLS

Sophomores won two national championships while studying at Blinn

After capturing two national titles in as many years, five Blinn College volleyball sophomores are taking their championship pedigree to the next level.

Trinity Alualu, Rebecca Reeve and Alysaa LaMont each signed to play for the University of Tulsa, Rachel Sharp signed with the University of Central Arkansas and Jaeda Allen signed at Barry University in Florida.

“All three players going to Tulsa were recruited for their ball control and I would be very surprised if Tulsa did not win its conference with them,” said Blinn coach Erin Mellinger.

All three players that signed with Tulsa made their decision independently.

“Tulsa has been consistently in touch with me since last year,” Alualu said. “Having my teammates there with me is definitely a bonus.”

“We have got to prove that we are worthy of being there,” Reeve said.

Blinn’s sophomore class posted a combined 79-4 record during its two seasons at Blinn.

“I am thankful to Blinn for all the experiences it gave me and I couldn’t have become the volleyball player I am without the coaches here,” LaMont said.

Sharp chose to continue her volleyball career at Central Arkansas because of the connection she made with UCA’s coaches. Sharp had a hard time leaving Tarkington to come to Blinn two years ago, and now her volleyball journey is taking her to Conway, Ark.

Allen liked just about everything at Barry, including the small campus size, the volleyball program and the fact that Barry offers a sports psychology program.

“Central Arkansas is very fortunate to have signed Rachel,” Mellinger said. “Jaeda will be a beast at Barry University and in that conference.”
