“FOR THE CITY” MEETS GOAL OF $65,000 FOR SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE

The nonprofit group For the City has met its fundraising goal for its annual school supply drive.

The group announced Thursday on Facebook that it had raised $65,000, enough funding to provide needed school supplies for 1,500 students in Washington County.

A sizable portion of the contributions toward the drive came in the form of $5 supply grab bags sold at H-E-B.  Approximately 2,299 grab bags were sold in July, raising around $11,495.

The school supply drive, now in its third year, adopted a drive-thru school supply pickup this year due to COVID-19, different from its usual supply market where students can “shop” for supplies they need.  Volunteers from across the community assisted this week at the Brenham Community Education Building in stuffing supply bags for the drive-thru distribution tomorrow (Sunday).

For the City Founder Tori Bryan thanks all those who supported and contributed to the supply drive, whether through purchasing supplies, donating, or volunteering.
