FORGERY CHARGE KEEPS CALDWELL MAN IN CUSTODY

  

Some alleged forged checks landed has kept a 21-year old Caldwell man in the Brazos County jail for almost a month.

Christopher Nevada Kazmir was arrested on June 13th for cashing $3700 in falsified checks.  The checks belonged to a man who is away in for Army basic training.  Kiazmir is being held under a $75,000 bond.

These charges stem from a separate incident in which Kazmir was accused of stealing a family friend’s checks and cashing three of them.  Police reports say he made the checks payable to himself.

The owner of the checks noticed the charges when he logged onto his online bank account.  He told police he had ordered the checks on April 7th and first saw them April 14th.

Investigators linked Kazmir to the checks through surveillance video and still photographs from two Bryan banks.

Kazmir is facing four counts of state jail felony, one count of state jail felony credit card abuse and misdemeanor evading arrest.
