A former Brenham High School graduate is in the running to be featured on the cover of an illustrious magazine.

Jasmine Nicoson, a member of Brenham High’s graduating class of 2005, is vying to be on the cover of Maxim magazine.

Nicoson, a military wife who currently lives in northwest Florida with her husband, Christopher, and three young boys, lived in Brenham from the ages of four to 21. She considers Brenham her home, and says she’s about 50 percent Blue Bell Ice Cream.  She also says it’s been a few years since she has been back in Brenham, but the loving community hasn’t changed since her childhood.

Nicoson says competing in this contest gives her an opportunity to share her story and spread her message.

Shortly after marrying her husband in 2011, Nicoson became pregnant with her first son, Jackson. Due to Christopher’s deployment to Afghanistan, he missed most of the pregnancy and Jackson’s birth.  Nicoson’s next four pregnancies ended with a miscarriage.

After visiting the doctor, Nicoson found out she had a gene mutation, which doctors said caused the blood clots that prevented her from having a successful pregnancy. Upon starting medication for the gene mutation, she was able to carry and birth her second son, River.  Christopher was there for River’s birth, but deployed three weeks later.  Nicoson would have their third child, Logan, a few years later.

Nicoson says this contest is her way to inspire others who might dealing with infant loss or miscarriage.

The competition goes on for several weeks, with the finals ending on November 21st.  The final winner will receive a prize of $25,000, and be featured on the January/February 2020 cover of Maxim magazine.

If she comes out on top in the contest, Nicoson says she has special plans for her and her family.
