AUSTIN, Texas – Former Brenham Cubs and current Concordia University senior Scott Weinschenk has been named honorable-mention All-American, D3baseball.com announced on Thursday.

Weinschenk, who emerged as the Friday-night starter this spring, posted an 8-3 record with a 1.76 ERA and struck out 90 batters in a team-leading 102 innings.

He made 13 starts, posted four complete games, hurled a shutout against East Texas Baptist on March 21 and combined on three others.

The American Southwest Conference Pitcher of the Year logged a 7-3 mark with a 1.56 ERA against league competition.

He helped the Tornados clinch the ASC Regular Season Championship and the top seed in the conference's postseason tournament.

At the ASC Tournament, Weinschenk made two starts over a three-day period. He earned All-Tournament honors for his performance after tossing 15.2 innings and allowing only three earned runs.

Weinschenk is the first Concordia Texas player to earn All-America honors since Collin Janseen picked up second-team accolades from D3baseball.com in 2012.
