The Heartland Conference recently celebrated it's 20th Anniversary and in recognition of that milestone the conference has named it's "20th Anniversary Heartland Conference Softball Team". Members include Heartland record holders, All-Americans, and individual Heartland Conference award winners. To be included honorees must have been at least one Heartland Player of the Year Award or Pitcher of the Year Award, and have been honored as an All-American at least once, or have been awarded multiple Heartland Player of the Year Awards or multiple All-American honors and have played for a full Heartland Conference member entering the 2019 season.
Former Brenham Cubette, Sydney Wellman was selected to the 20th Anniversary Team. Wellmann played for St. Mary’s during the 2015-2016 seasons. Wellmann was the conference Player of the Year in 2016 and was also an All-American in the same season. Wellmann ranks fifth all-time in on base percentage with a .485 mark. She is also one of the top defensive players in conference history ranking seventh in fielding percentage for a career with a .988 fielding percentage.
