FORMER CUBS READY FOR NFL SEASON

Malcom Brown

Three former Brenham Cubs have jobs in the National Football League.

Former Cub and Texas Longhorn Malcom Brown is entering his fourth season with the New England Patriots.  Brown, a 6-2 320-pound defensive tackle, has played in the Super Bowl with the Patriots the past two seasons.

Courtland Sutton

Courtland Sutton, a second-round draft pick by the Denver Broncos out of SMU, will be the team's number-3 receiver.  Sutton should see plenty of playing time along side Demarius Thomas and Bellville's Emanuel Sanders.  Sutton greatly impressed the coaches throughout the pre-season.

Austin Schlottmann

And former Cub and TCU offensive lineman Austin Schlottmann, who was cut Saturday by the Broncos, has been re-signed by the team to their practice squad.  Schlottmann could join the main roster if one of the offensive linemen suffers a season-ending injury or is cut from the team.

The trio joins other former Cubs who've played in the NFL: Limas Sweed, Roderick Green, John David Baker, James Wright, Wilson Whitley, Cleveland Franklin, Ronald Parker, Roosevelt Leaks and Joe Routt.
