FREE MEALS FOR BURTON ISD STUDENTS STARTING MONDAY

Burton ISD has been approved for each student in the district to receive free breakfast and lunch, starting Monday.

The Burton ISD Child Nutrition Program has received a waiver from the Texas Department of Agriculture, which will allow all students to receive a complimentary breakfast and lunch each day for the remainder of the school year.

This does not apply to any extra or a la carte food items, which will still be available for purchase.

Students with balances remaining on their child nutrition payment accounts can use that money for a la carte items and any food in addition to the regular breakfast or lunch.  If at the end of the year there is a remaining balance, it will be carried over to the next school year.

Part of this waiver allows Burton ISD to provide breakfast and lunch to any individual age 1 to 18, regardless of if they are a Burton ISD student, as well as during any virtual instruction.

  1. I couldn’t imagine anyone being upset that this is being done. Parents are really struggling out here during this pandemic. Most of then haven’t been able to work because the kids are mostly home schooling virtually. I don’t live in Burton, but thank you Burton ISD for looking out for the community’s future… Our children! America’s children!!!?
