GIDDINGS STATE SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT REPLACED

The Giddings State School has a new Superintendent following the abrupt departure of its former leader.

Tamu Steptoe has been named the new Superintendent at the Giddings State School.  Steptoe comes from the Evins Regional Juvenile Facility in South Texas, where she has been the Superintendent the past two years.  She replaces former Superintendent Jorge Gonzales, who suddenly resigned his position shortly after two 16-year olds escaped from the Giddings facility.  Gonzales is no longer employed by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department.

Camille Cain, Executive Director of the Texas Juvenile Justice Department, said, “I’ve got great faith in Ms. Steptoe’s abilities and believe that her institutional knowledge, leadership, professionalism and wealth of experience working with youthful offenders make her the perfect fit to lead the Giddings State School.
