GRIMES RESIDENTS CONCERNED ABOUT AGGIE HIGHWAY

Grimes County residents continue to express concerns about the proposed ‘Aggie Highway.’

This highway would connect highway 249  from the Houston suburbs to Navasota.  It would be 14 miles long, connecting highway 105 east of highway 6 to the 249 extension in Pinehurst.  There is opposition however.  Many in Grimes County say they don’t see the benefit to the area and want more answers from the Texas Department of Transportation on why it has to be a toll road.

Residents asked is the proposed plan is a done deal but TxDot officials say it is not.  Others are asking  why existing roads or highway 105 can’t be expanded.

TxDot says they are listening to all concerns.  They are waiting on an environmental assessment due in the fall to determine the number of things that need to be done and another assessment on how many homes would be affected.
