GROUNDBREAKING SET FOR SENIOR ACTIVITY CENTER

After a three year capital fundraising campaign and a donation of 4.2 acres of land, groundbreaking for the new Washington County Healthy Living Association’s Senior Activity Center is set for Tuesday, June 3rd.

The land off East Tom Green Street, across from Brenham Junior High School and Cubs Stadium, was donated in September of 2011 by John and Julie Kenjura, after the senior center had been moved from several locations.

The Center is now housed on a temporary basis at the Knights Of Columbus Hall.

The Center, once completed would house everything from classes, games, activities and daily meals for senior citizens of the community.

The mission of the Center is to give quality and dignity to the lives of senior citizens through independent living and to give relief to the huge and growing costs of medical and nursing home expenses.  The Senior Activity Center will reach these goals.

The benefits are many.
