H-E-B NOW REQUIRING CUSTOMERS TO WEAR MASKS AT ALL STORES

MANDATE EFFECTIVE EVEN IN CITIES WITH NO MASK ORDER

Starting tomorrow (Wednesday), H-E-B will require customers at all of its stores to wear facemasks, regardless of if those stores are in areas with existing mask orders in place.

According to a statement from the San Antonio-based grocery store chain, while over 80 percent of its stores currently operate under a mandatory mask order, it is now requiring masks in all stores companywide.

In the statement from H-E-B spokeswoman Chelsea Thompson, she says masks are “a proven way to slow the spread of COVID-19”.  She adds that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the state, and local health officials “strongly urge the use of masks or facial coverings in public spaces as a proven way to slow the spread of the coronavirus”.

The statement also says many COVID-19 cases are asymptomatic, and that wearing masks, social distancing, proper hand washing and sanitization are all things done to help keep citizens healthy.

Children and individuals with health-related issues are exempted from the mask requirement.

  1. Hang in there everyone….The mask debate and this pandemic will all end November 4, 2020. It will be amazing how fast this goes away after that date, until the next “virus” comes along now that they now they can get away with it..

  2. HEB corporate has made their liberal, far left, partisan choices very evident in recent years. The mandatory masks is not for the safety of anyone, it is just another way to show the world where they stand and who and what they support.
Our local HEB management is another story. They are amazing people that support our rights and ability to think and reason for ourselves. I appreciate our local store and the countless hours of work they have but putting in but sad and shake my head to the choices of those up the line.
I support the business’ right to choice but I also support customer’s right to choice.
The PLANdemic will be here until the election unless “they” choose another “crisis” to implement.
Another lost customer. Bye HEB. Until later.

  3. To wear a mask is to kneel for the National Anthem.

It is to support Black Lives Matter, a communist organization and also atheistic. Think about that when big global CEO, big city mayor or even your preacher says they support them. They are communists the big government and big business kind like China has.

To support a communist organization, a big time funder of the democratic party is to support the destruction of the family and the destruction of the sexes.

    From Blacks Live Matter:

“We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and “villages” that collectively care for one another, especially our children, to the degree that mothers, parents, and children are comfortable.

We foster a queer‐affirming network. When we gather, we do so with the intention of freeing ourselves from the tight grip of heteronormative thinking, or rather, the belief that all in the world are heterosexual (unless s/he or they disclose otherwise)”

That is from the horses mouth. Is cannot be denied.

They are attacking nothing less than the building blocks of all that is good in the world. The love of a mother and father forever devoted and respect and love for the father and mother by the child. They are attacking Gods creation and twisting it.

The giant statues of Lenin and the Devil still stand, unmolested while the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is desecrated.

Folks know these people by what they advocate for and their actions. These are people the people that are pushing the mask and saying have it on or else.

If not, as the mask does very little, they would leave it up to the person.

  4. They are a private company and can do what they want and I am TOTALLY opposed to wearing masks which is why today instead of going to HEB as I normally would. I went to Walmart. Fine by me. If they want to do that go ahead just will have to shop elsewhere for now.

    1. WE APPLAUD HEB FOR THEIR LEADERSHIP AND COMMON SENSE!
MORE BUSINESSES SHOULD FOLLOW THEIR EXAMPLE WHEN 1 OR 2 EMPLOYEES CONTRACT COVID-19.
THEY ARE SEVERAL BUSINESSES IN BRENHAM THAT ARE LYING ABOUT THE NUMBER OF CASES THEY HAVE. THEIR EMPLOYEES ARE “LETTING THE CAT OUT THE BAG”.

    2. Spoiler alert! Walmart now requiring masks For entrance to stores nationwide!

  5. Their right to do it, though many studies are showing the masks are ineffective at stopping the virus fully.

And – I hate to break it to all of you, but this virus is here to stay.

We have bubonic plague still around folks, and that last pandemic was 1362.

Also, it disheartens needs greatly when folks are being nasty to those who don’t wear masks, because they’re “spreading germs” (I’ve heard worse.)

Um… do they NOT GET we’ve done that since day one of our lives, been our own Typhoid Mary at times?

Finally, this drastic uptick was caused directly from the protests and bars that chose to not follow TABC orders.

We were always going to see this dramatic uptick when we sheltered at home too long. In fact, we’ll see it again if they do it again.

I’m not going to condemn a business for choosing to have a mask order. Where I am the nearest HEB is 90 miles away, so if I went I’d wear one just because I want to get the jalapeño cheese balls.

However, folks – use common sense. This bug is here to stay and we’ll continue to see rises in cases.

You need to focus on the recovery and death rates:

    Recoveries are up.
Deaths have stayed the same, barely upticks or stayed stable.

When those flip? – then you have a legit case to worry.

As it stands, you’ll worry yourselves into becoming more susceptible to the bug.

  6. You people who worry about the deep state may truly end up in a dark, dark deep state. It’s called a coma or death. Food for thought. Sissies? Who are the real sissies?? Those who won’t wear masks! Are you calling Arnold Schwarzenegger a sissie???? I hear Brookshire Bros is also requiring masks. This pandemic is NOT your so called “fake news.” Digest the facts.

    1. Wearing a non medical grade paper or cloth mask has little effect on spreading germs.
It is more of a “window dressing ” to make people feel like they have some control of this uncontrollable situation.

If you really want to do it right, get an actual fitted medical grade mask or respirator with changeable filters, at least they will have much higher chance of preventing germs spreading from person to person.
This includes a tight fit, no facial hair.

These cheap blue masks that most people are wearing do almost nothing.

That is a fact, not anti mask talk.

Furthermore, try and spend as much time as you can outside, fresh air, sunshine, and exercise, and don’t let this whole mess bring you down too much.
It will get better, it always does.

  7. I am hugely offended by this. After giving it some thought, I went to the HEB website and voiced my concerns and complaints about this new policy and explained that until this order is lifted and they stop violating my rights, they have lost a loyal customer. I encourage everyone who feels the same way to go to their website and share their thoughts on this subject.

    1. H‑E‑B is a fine store with wonderful leadership. They are just looking out for everyone.

    1. That a girl Shirley….you need to be on the next City Election for Mayor….you will win. Yes I will continue to wear my mask & all the gripers here saying they will shop elsewhere…..well go..At least that will lessen the crowded aisles.

  8. What a truly horrible decision, as a loyal long time customer I protest in the strongest possible terms. I find the masks hard to breath in, they fog my glasses, and they are very uncomfortable. This is indeed a huge store trampling my rights just to make a small but loud group of people caught up in their fears happy. To HEB, I will now explore other shopping alternatives when I am able so that I am not forced to endure these draconian measures that violate my rights and my freedom. I will do my best to spend as little money as possible with you because of this.

  9. WELL WHY NOW ????? WE DID OT EVEN HAVE TO DURING THE INITIAL PLANDEMIC SCARE !! PEOPLE ARE BEING PUT INTO TO FEAR AND THE MASK REPRESENTS THAT I HAVE NEVER WORN ONE AND I REFUSE TO DO SO i WILL GO TO THE LITTLE LOCAL STORES THAT ARE AWAKE AND AWARE THAT MASKS DONT DO A THING !!! GOOD GRIEF THIS IS JUST WHAT THE DEEP STATE WANTS ,EVERYONE TO COMPLY .SEE HOW EASY IT IS SCARE THEM AND THEY ALL FOLLOW LIKE SHEEP !!! I WILL NOT SHOP THERE AND THEY WILL LOOSE A LOT OF BUSINESS FROM A LOT OF PEOPLE .PEOPLE NEED TO WAKE UP AND KNOW THE MASK DOES NOTHING BUT MAKE THE WEARER SICK CHECK OUT THE CDC WEBSITE !!

I NOT CONSENT THIS IS CONTROL AND MY RIGHTS ARE BEING TRAMPLED DAILY !!!

    1. Give us a link to the CDC website that you cited.
Sounds like FAKE News from someone SCARED of a so called Deep State that only exists in the mind of those concerned with Benghazi and Hillary’s hidden emails. We have all moved passed this.
Wear a mask! We are in a Surge. At least wear one till the pandemic is waning, Or stay home. Your rights remain intact with or without a mask. Why is this even controversial?

    2. Yout own response shows that your rights aren’t trampled. HEB is a private business, and you have the right to go elsewhere. That’s freedom!

    3. Your rights are not being trampled on. If you lived in China or Venezuela, yes. H‑E‑B is just ensuring we all look after one another; to protect our community.

    4. I took your advice and advice and checked out the CDC website. The following has been copied from their site from a June 28, 2020 update:
CDC recommends that people wear cloth face coverings in public settings and when around people who don’t live in your household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
Cloth face coverings may help prevent people who have COVID-19 from spreading the virus to others.
Cloth face coverings are most likely to reduce the spread of COVID-19 when they are widely used by people in public settings.

  10. Awesome. All you people that don’t want to wear a mask stay away from HEB. It makes it nicer for the rest of us when we can shop without having to dodge the viral load coming out of your face.

    1. Did you know that my mask sprays the potential viral load away from me. That’s right, I don’t re-breath it. It comes out in the water vapor. My mask is made not to help you but me. Sorry.

    2. hahahaha…having just left HEB this morning – I can tell you that they are not wearing masks correctly and I even saw people not wearing any mask (gasp!) It is hilarious! Under the chin, under the nose, over the nose and above the mouth. I despise wearing a mask and think it does NO GOOD but if HEB says wear a mask, I will don my mask and keep my honker sticking out so I can breathe and my glasses don’t fog up. Hope everyone is happy now 🙂

    3. Did you know that my mask and many of the other masks made provide protection to the user only. The “viral load” still escapes.
What’s the point of this? I will go where I please and I will not re breath my own air. But that doesn’t matter dose it? I still have the mask on.

What matters is people like you get to tell people what to do, isn’t it?

Today its the mask, tomorrow it will be kneeling when the anthem is played. Or else.

  11. The way HEB has responded to this Pandemic has been impressive. They were the first to have Plexiglas booths around the cashiers. Additionally they had partners disinfecting the carts outside for our safety. Now they are the 1st to mandate face covering / masks in their store in Brenham. KUDOS!
They are responsible citizens protecting our ESSENTIAL grocery source for us the vulnerable, which includes more people than they themselves realize.
Too bad our local politicians are too timid to mandate what this Pandemic requires to mitigate further spread and its inherent morbidity and mortality. Far too many people are tempting fate. Way too many people discount the warnings from responsible officials that are making suggestions to flatten the curve.
Apparently too few people know the suffering experienced by the afflicted and their families. Read : https://www.nbcnews.com/news/obituaries/coronavirus-deaths-60-stories-victims-around-country-n1194396 to put a face on some of the victims.
All we need to do to help one another is be patient and considerate by wearing a mask in public. My mask protects you, yours protects me. Remember to disinfect and physical distance from others. It does not always have to be about someone wanting to take away your rights or about someone wanting to make someone else look bad. There are better examples of both. Pick a better fight and one that does not cost lives. Chill with being a contrarian. Act as a responsible adult and a good neighbor.

  12. Wear your face mask like your seat belt, the china virus might be here a long time, speaking of rights, if the RED Storm RISING takes over your rights will be gone for ever.

    1. Red storm rising? Are you serious? You think the Republicans are going to take away your rights? Are you even paying attention?

  13. Thank you HEB!! I am so happy that you are helping in the way that you can❣️

  14. Thomas Jefferson weeps! Just kidding, thank you H‑E‑B. This mask controversy is the dumbest on a long list of dumb.

  15. Now we HAVE to wear a mask to get food at HEB
Now we HAVE to walk specific directions at Walmart for Chinese made stuff.
What’s next? I cannot shake my buddy’s hand?
No more large weddings or funerals – wait….that’s happening
No more husbands being with their wives during their child’s delivery – wait….that’s happening
We killed our economy for a virus that 99.93% people survive from.
We are now a Nation of Sissies…(using the nice word)
    Pathetic scared sheep.
Now, tell my how ‘secure’ you ‘feel’.

    1. You may have a different opinion when the hospital has no respirator for you to use when you are admitted due to the over crowded ICU’s

    2. Yup.
      Sad.
      Wise up folks.
The more freedom you give, the more freedom they take .
Be a good consumer and follow orders.
      Be a good citizen.
      Be a good comrade.
Follow the masees, they know best.
      Yikes!
I shake my head and shrug my shoulders…

      1. It’s a mask. I wore one for years in another country tah is NOT communist and we got along just fine. The USA is my home and I love my country, but we are not the cultural authority on what is “right.”

    3. Do you wear your seat belt? It’s just in case there is a accident. 130k Americans have died in 6 months buddy. Wait till you get 65 or older you will have a different look on life.

    4. I think HEB is taking the proper precautious to ensure the safety of their employees and staff. Clinics enforce this rule and I don’t hear anyone complain about that. There is still so much unknown about this virus, what harm is there in protecting yourself. It’s clear some don’t care about others so at least look out for yourself and loved ones. I understand people have rights but this is about taking responsibility for ones health and I’m glad HEB supports that. For those of you who don’t, you don’t HAVE to go to HEB to get groceries…you have the RIGHT to go somewhere else.

    5. We are a weak nation that’s for sure. They divided us and took control in a matter of months. This will now be the standard anytime a “virus” happens! Our economy will struggle for years and more will be lost (that you will never here about) than this virus will ever take.

    6. Your figures are a little off. It should read 98.4 per 100,000 people will survive. Currently that’s approximately 279 deaths per 100,000 population, or 1 death every 358 people and this is just the beginning, we haven’t seen nothing yet.

Wear a mask for the protection of others and stop being so selfish or shop somewhere else.

      1. Oh I’m sure there will be more deaths. EVERY death now a days is “COVID-1984” no matter what the actual cause of death is. You and people like you are just too easily manipulated and stupid to see it.

    7. I completely agree with John. It’s pretty dog gone sad that it has come down to this. Senator Paul proved in a senate hearing that the mask are not needed and that Dr Fauci is only giving his opinions on how to conduct day to day activities. He clearly admitted that he is not qualified to dictate to the US how to live their lives. Good luck HEB! You now made it to where all the non sheep people will shop via curbside only. Just live and let live.

    8. I TOTALLY AGREE SO MANY ARE STILL FALLING FOR THIS PLANDEMIC . THE CDC HAS NOW REVISED THEIR INFO ON MASK WEARING THEY DO NOT PROTECT US IT IS ALL TO SEE HOW EASILY WE COMPLY TO THE DEEP STATE

      1. FYI- it’s Pandemic. Do you go to the doctor? You are required to wear a mask. Stop making this about YOU. It’s not political- listen to the medical community in Houston, Austin,SA, hell finally even your own governor. Don’t want to wear a mask at HEB? Go somewhere else.

      2. For Chana Luedke,
You are totally wrong about the info you have stated as CDC’s stance on wearing masks. Get on line and read their site like I just did. You are wrong so stop spreading inaccurate info. If there’s one thing we don’t need here is “fake news’!!

    9. My thoughts exactly! Those masks don’t do any good and the liberal media is using scare tactics to keep people in line like sheep. God is in control….I chose Faith over fear! I was going to HEB today but not now….via con dios

    10. From CDC Evidence for Effectiveness of Cloth Face Coverings
Cloth face coverings are recommended as a simple barrier to
help prevent respiratory droplets from traveling into the air and
onto other people when the person wearing the cloth face
covering coughs, sneezes, talks, or raises their voice. This is
called source control. This recommendation is based on what
we know about the role respiratory droplets play in the spread
of the virus that causes COVID-19, paired with emerging
evidence from clinical and laboratory studies that shows cloth
face coverings reduce the spray of droplets when worn over the
nose and mouth. COVID-19 spreads mainly among people who
are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet), so
the use of cloth face coverings is particularly important in
settings where people are close to each other or where social
      distancing is difficult to maintain.
      READ: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/cloth-face-cover-guidance.html

    11. Keep on keepin on, see how much you’ll get taken away when you’re sick.
Colleague from work had covid 6 weeks ago and is not back to normal, anything but. She is miserable even now. It looks like this thing leaves its mark for far longer than just another flu.

But I’m sorry for your losses.

  16. HEB has now lost a loyal customer. I have taken my son with autism into your store many times and appreciate the friendly and welcoming employees. I will, however, NOT comply with a mask mandate for a multitude of reasons.

    1. Too bad you do not care about your neighbors. This is about protecting our community. It’s all about looking after one another. The governor and VP have both said masks sense. We all have a job to do. Hopefully if we come together, masks will not be needed in the future.

    2. I agree totally when are people going to realize this covid thing is a plandemic and that wearing a mask was ot even mandated during the initial shut down !!! I will not shop at any store that makes me wear a mask !!! When are people going to realize it is more dangerous to wear a mask then to not wear one . I do not consent to the deep state stuff being pushed !!!

  17. Thank you, H-E-B. The only time I am in jeopardy is while grocery shopping because the exhalations and droplets can enter through the eyes. If all of the shoppers are wearing masks, it reduces the chances of airborne droplets. I understand that there are those who consider this a violation of their personal freedoms, but hopefully the 45 minutes it takes to shop won’t be unbearable, or there’s always curbside. I am so grateful.

    1. There’s always curbside for you, if you feel scared. Get ready for seeing people not, as another comment says “complying”. This should be entertaining. People need to re-listen to John Wayne’s Republic speech in The Alamo.

    2. Question for you, what is your mask? Is it Cotten, surgical, dust mask? If it is t a fitted N95 mask, it doesn’t help you or anyone else one bit. Please understand that your mask doesn’t protect anyone or you if it’s any of those listed. I work medical and I have to teach my patients this all the time. It HAS to be a N95 dotted for your face mask or it won’t help.

      1. Everyone, please refer to the CDC website for guidance on appropriate facial coverings or contact your doctors office. Most healthcare facilities don’t even provide their staff with N95 masks and they only use surgical masks. There’s recommendations out there for different settings or situations, please use proper resources to get the correct information.

      2. Thank you, George. I do wear N95 masks that I purchased in January after seeing the news overseas. I called Congressman McCaul’s office in March asking if the State of Texas could do anything to ramp up supplies of the N95 respirators, to better protect those who were in schools, incarcerated or in refugee camps. The woman who answered the phone didn’t know what an N95 was, but said she would pass the message along. I think it’s wonderful that you have been educating your patients; the world is safer because of your knowledge.

    1. Your rights are not being taken away. Would you drive drunk? Would you not put on a seat belt? Would you not speed? The government passed laws to protect all of us. In this case, HEB is just asking you to be considerate of your neighbors. And yourself.

    2. You lose your rights when you walk into a private business. If you don’t want to follow their policies then you have every right as an American to shop somewhere else.

  18. Most welcome, but perhaps to late to make an impact. The CDC and other SCIENTISTS now say the U.S. pandemic is beyond control. I pray they are wrong. On a visit to our court house today, I encountered 9 county employees, and NONE wore a mask. So the elected county authority who told us all to wear a mask anytime we are in public, evidently has no requirements for the people we pay. People in Bryan College Station are complying, but the new cases continue to explode. This must be what “ out of control” means. We know our local municipal officials are under pressure from the state, but I would hope their sense of providing safety to the public as their biggest responsibility takes precedence. Mandatory masks Mr.Mayor, please.

    1. They are wrong and have been wrong this whole time. This is all fear mongering. The same people telling you to stay home are the same people allowing their streets to be filled with rioters and looters.

Your chances of survival if contracting covid 19 are 99.3%. Are you people seriously going to give up your freedoms and allow these businesses to dictate your lives over something with a .007% death rate??

First the mask, then the forced vaccination. When will you people ever learn from history?

      1. What a joke.

Here is something of a joke my friend said to me at the spash pad yesterday while I was watching the kiddos.

It was crude, funny, but true:

If a small fart can clear out a good sized room, after traveling through underwear and jeans, what hope can we have for our paper thin masks to save us from a virus that has no smell????

        Ha,ha!!!

Lighten up folks, it is an election year and the sky is falling!!!
Give it time, things will get better of you let them.

      2. Goodby HEB. There are other places to shop that are not playing this political game, and are not willing to step on our rights. I know there are a large number of people who feel the same way, and will be glad to take their business elsewhere permanently. Pro Americans are watching and paying attention to the places that are playing along with this nonsense that the anti-American democrats are pushing.
