HALL ATTORNEYS APPEALING DEATH SENTENCE

  

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals is taking another look at a College Station convicted killer's death row sentence.

Gabriel Hall was convicted in 2015, for the murder of Edwin Shaar and a brutal attack on Shaar’s wife Linda at their College Station home.

Hall was a high school student at the time and confessed to police he committed the crimes.

Hall’s attorneys are now appealing the sentence due to a video the jury was shown before he was sentenced, which featured an interview with comedian Jeff Ross over a 2015 television program.

Ross interviewed Hall and other inmates inside the Brazos County Jail.

Attorneys for Hall also claim the defense team wasn't notified about the interview, which was used against him at trial.

Legal experts say the appeals court will look at if showing the footage was relevant.  A decision on the appeal could take six to eight months.
