HEMPSTEAD HONORING MILITARY WITH WATERMELON RUN FOR THE FALLEN

The city of Hempstead will honor fallen service officers at tomorrow’s (Saturday) annual Watermelon Run for the Fallen.

The event, getting underway at 6:30 a.m. tomorrow morning, is devoted to all Texan military personnel that have been killed in service.  Hempstead Police Chief David Hartley says this year, they will be honoring over 900 officers.

Hartley says there will be plenty of family activities as well, including free barbecue, watermelon, snow cones, and entertainment.

Hartley says registrations will be taken up to the beginning of activities, at 6:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Hempstead High School football field.  For more information, call Hartley at 281-831-1750, or visit www.watermelonrftf.org.

KTEX-106 is a proud sponsor of the Watermelon Run for the Fallen.
