HIGHWAY 290 ROAD WORK BEGINNING

Drivers on a stretch of highway 290 to FM 389 will begin experiencing delays and detours today (Thursday) as the Texas Department of Transportation begins another round of road work in that area.

TxDot resident Engineer Mark Shafer says the construction could be completed by October, but that depends on the weather.

Most of the work will a mill and overlay that would probably be done during the daylight hours. The final surfacing will be done at night.

Shafer said TxDot does not expect the traffic to be backed up very much, but drivers need to show caution.

He does expect daily lane closures while the work is being done.

This is a one million dollar project awarded to Knife River Corporation.

This is the same company that is doing the work on a $3.6 million project to remove an interchange at highway 36 north and business 36.  That work is continuing .
